The panel on the Solgain Solar Lighting Kits has been oversized to allow for even the darkest winter days. On a typical winters day the light should still be able to run for around 8 hours before it starts draining the battery down. This also means unless the kit is being used all day everyday a second light can be run easily. This would then mean around 4 hours with 2 lights running on a winter day.

Any 12V battery will work with the Solgain Solar Lighting Kit, most commonly car, van or motorcycle batteries etc. It is recommended that a 75-85ah battery is used. This is purely to compensate for any number of days (or weeks in the UK) that do not receive much light at all. This means that even when the panel is not producing much energy the battery will be able to supply the charge.

Another reason for using a larger battery is to keep the battery healthy

and, therefore, not having to replace it. Batteries in general should not be drained to below 50% charge as it damages them. Ideally they should not be below 80%, however, this is not always viable due to the cost for such large batteries that would be needed.

Simply because the brackets we supply for wall mounting give the solar panel a slight offstand to maximise the winter sun. This offstand can only be obtained by mounting the panel landscape.

If you are limited by space and need to mount the panel portrait on a wall then the roof mounting kit is still perfectly viable to use. This just means the panel will be parallel to the wall therefore not being as efficient (although only around a 5% difference). Again the panel is oversized so this 5% should not be an issue.

We offer a full year warranty on all items and parts. In the unlikely event of anything going wrong please contact us with your problem. If it is an easily fixable problem we can send you the parts. If not simply send them back and we will fix or replace the product.
